40 years of Trade Unions supporting LGBT+ equality

Congress has partnered with FSU in a series of webinars marking the 40th anniversary of the passing of a motion in support of Gay Rights in Ireland.

1: Standing in Solidarity Our panel discuss the background leading up to the passing of the motion in support of gay rights in Ireland, the drafting of the motion and journey it took to be passed at Congress and its impact on future developments for the LGBT community in Ireland. - Kieran Rose, Co-Founder of the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN) and Trade Unionist. - Dr Patrick McDonagh, Author of 'Gay and Lesbian Activism in the Republic of Ireland, 1973-93'
 

 

2: Know Your Rights - 3 Case Studies followed by discussion on employment rights and protections.

Case Study 1: The Kincora Boy's Home Jeffrey Dudgeon MBE, Author, Historian & Human Rights Activist, Convenor of the Malone House Group and Gay Rights Activist.

Anne-Marie Lillis, is a primary school teacher and a member of the INTO. She attended the inaugural meeting of the INTO LGBT Teachers Group in 2004 and was actively involved with the group until 2016. She was chairperson from 2013-2015.
